Place #47: Bannock

At work, I was up until recently the unofficial social committee for the UX team in Toronto. It mainly consisted of deciding what restaurant we would eat at. But I no longer hold this role, because:

  1. The UX team in Toronto only consists of two people now and any time we want to do something, we just do it
  2. I joined the actual Toronto office social committee

But my time as that unofficial social committee has cemented my role in outings with friends I work and used to work with. They suggested we get dinner together since we hadn’t seen each other in a while and I was tasked with choosing the restaurant.

My choice was Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. However, a day after suggesting this, I walked by only to see that they were closed for renovations, reopening the day after we had planned. It had taken us long enough to find a date that worked, so the restaurant was what had to change.

After doing some research, I was reminded that I had been wanting to go to Bannock for a while now. I also have this random desire to go to every one of Oliver & Bonacini’s restaurants, and this is one of them. So, that was our new destination.

Place #47: Bannock, 401 Bay St, Toronto, ON M5H 2Y4, Canada

I got a pork meat pie with mashed potatoes and a single cooked carrot. The carrot seemed a little off, only because my plate only had one. It was intentional though because Chloe got the same dish and she too had only one carrot.

After we finished dinner, people came over to my place to try a piece of the orange and pistachio cake I had made. They really liked it. I also gave them a tour of my LEGO street set 😂

Other new places this week:

  • Vintage Bride, to help Chloe pick out a dress for some engagement/wedding photos she’s getting done (in Japan!!)
